GST-Registration

In the complex world of taxation, understanding Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration is important for businesses. This article breaks down the process, eligibility criteria, and documents required for GST registration with online GST registration.

What is GST Registration?

GST registration is a mandatory process for businesses with a turnover above Rs. 40 lakh, and for those in hill states and north-eastern states, the threshold is Rs. 10 lakh. The online GST portal facilitates a seamless registration process where business owners submit the necessary documents to comply with GST rules.

Different Types of GST Registration

Normal Taxpayer: The majority of businesses fall into the Normal Taxpayer category, devoid of the need for a deposit. This registration type has no expiry date, providing stability to businesses.

Casual Taxable Person: Seasonal businesses can opt for Casual Taxable Person status. An advance deposit, equivalent to the expected GST liability during operational periods, is required. This registration lasts for 3 months, extendable or renewable.

Composition Taxpayer: Businesses seeking the simplicity of the GST Composition Scheme can apply under this category, involving a flat deposit. However, no input tax credit is available in this classification.

Non-Resident Taxable Person: For businesses supplying goods from outside India to individuals in India, Non-Resident Taxable Person registration is suitable. Similar to Casual Taxable Person, a deposit is required for a 3-month registration period, extendable or renewable.
